Obsession Du Jour: Parisien Stripes, Wildflower Bunches, & Royal Apothic Eau De Parfum

obsessiondujour-3

The past couple of weeks I can say without shame I have purchased 4 striped shirts. All with black (or dark navy nearly black) stripes in varying widths.

I stopped by Anthropologie a few days ago and sampled the new fragrance they are carrying, Royal Apothic Eau De Parfum - "Kensington Gardens" - OH MY GOODNESS, so obsessed! I need this on my new vanity TOMORROW!

And speaking of vanities, I've also been purchasing wildflower bunches from Trader Joes and placing little vases around the house full of these field blossoms. I love wildflowers for Summer and Fall, don't you?

Edit: The boots are from Coggles.com. Victorian style leather washed boots. ♥

Daily Inspiration:The Lady's Boudoir

Every woman should have a boudoir. While the definition of a boudoir is a private room or dressing room, I like to think a boudoir could be a corner of your bedroom where you can go to pretty yourself up, powder your nose, spritz on some perfume...

There is a certain feeling that the word "boudoir" evokes. I always imagine lace, chiffons, pearls, delicate rosettes, tiny trinkets that glitter and sparkle in the sunlight.

Vintage Movies + Musicals: Hello, Dolly!

If you know me in person, you will know that I absolutely love musicals. I have a Pandora station devoted to showtunes. And sometimes I have an insane urge to pas de bouree down the street.

One of my favorite musicals is "Hello, Dolly!" with Barbara Streisand. It's so jovial and fun and the songs are beyond catchy (you might recognize them from Wall-E). The dance numbers are also super fantastic as they should be since the movie is directed by none other than the amazingly talented Gene Kelly!

The costumes in this 1969 movie are WONDERFUL. The colors are very reminiscent of the late 60s, lots of tans, muted pastels, cream with brown and black. I forgot to screencap the outfits before I returned it to Netflix, but perhaps you can find some around the internet.

I have never in my life been so inspired by a complete stranger, let alone a stranger that lived some 50 years ago and probably does not know her found photographs have been scanned on the internet and shared for people to admire.

These are photos of Ty. A wife of a bloke, is he American, is he European, is he Australian? We don't know. But he seems to adore his wife very much as most of the photographs were of her looking impeccably put together while they travel through Hong Kong in the 1960s.

Is it weird to say I want photos like these of me? Candid moments that perhaps in the distant future someone will blog about and think "Wow, this woman had such style, I wish I was her!"

Artist Spotlight: Oh My Cavalier! Artwork by Julianna Swaney

There is something sweet and folkloric about Julianna Swaney's drawings and paintings. I love how the girls wear simple blue and brown frocks. I love the birds, the bunny rabbits, the foxes... and I am dying over the mechanical animal paper dolls available in her shop. I'll take one please!

Trend Spotting: 90's Revival

trendspotting-90srevival

I must admit, I don't mind the comeback of trends from the 90's AT ALL. In fact, I greatly enjoyed 90's styles as it was when I really started to have an interest in fashion and wore some of my favorite outfits to date.
